Description

Excavated from the Geumryeong Tomb, this crown is the smallest and most refined among all Silla gold crowns discovered to date, measuring 27 cm in height and 15 cm in diameter. Its simple yet elegant form features three upright tree-shaped ornaments — the central and side branches rendered in the shape of the Chinese charater 山, each composed of four connected tiers. The tips of these branches end in delicate bud-shaped finials, while a pair of antler-like extensions adorn both sides. The crown band and all five branches share identical decorative motifs: rows of punched dot patterns along the upper and lower edges, with small leaf-shaped gold discs suspended between them. Earring-shaped ornaments hang gracefully from both sides of the crown. Distinctively, this piece contains no jade embellishments — its splendor lies purely in the luminous warmth of gold, expressing the understated sophistication of Silla craftsmanship.
